10 Feb 2023 ↑ WORKSHOP ON “INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS”. DR. RAJESH KUMAR, PROFESSOR, GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY, AMRITSAR WAS THE RESOURCE PERSON
On 10th Feb, 2023 Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) and IIC(Institution's Innovation Cell) of the college organised a workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights”. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the Resource Person. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neeru Sharma presented a welcome address. The workshop was attended by all the staff members and PG students.
The workshop was dedicated to understanding the different types of IPR, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. The speaker explained the legal framework for each of these rights and provided examples of their applications in different fields.
He focused on the importance of IPR in research and education and also discussed the benefits of IPR protection, including encouraging innovation, promoting creativity, and ensuring fair compensation for creators. The speaker also highlighted the role of universities in promoting IPR and creating awareness among students and faculty members.
At the end, Dr. Rajesh gave practical applications of IPR like process of filing a patent and the importance of conducting a patent search before filing a patent application. The speaker also provided examples of successful patent applications and highlighted the role of technology transfer offices in commercializing research and development.
The college principal concluded that the IPR Workshop was an informative and enlightening event that provided participants with a better understanding of IPR and its significance in research and education. The workshop also highlighted the challenges faced by the IPR system and the need for a balanced approach to protect the interests of creators and users. The workshop was a step forward in creating awareness among students and faculty members about the importance of IPR and its role in promoting innovation and creativity.
She congratulated coordinator IQAC and IIC for organising this workshop. IQAC Coordinator Dr. Rama presented a vote of thanks to the keynote speaker and all participants.
